Skiing in the Sawtooths is a well kept secret.
Winter is quiet here. The Sawtooth's high alpine reaches are
laced with granite spires and inviting cirques. The mountain
shoulders offer superb slope skiing, and the forests of pine
and aspen are a delight to tour through. Our doorstep is at
the foot of this snowy and rugged range.
At day's end our Mongolian style yurts welcome you. They are cheerfully lighted and toasty warm. Dinner simmers in the kitchen as your friends join you to relax after another great day in the Sawtooth backcountry.
The Williams Peak Yurt is part of the Sawtooth Hut System which is
operated in conjunction with Sun Valley Trekking. Although the
Williams Yurt offers the best backcountry skiing options, it’s
possible to tour between three different huts
(see Sawtooth Hut System map).
It’s also possible to visit the Williams Yurt with or without a guide. We require a guide if your group has never visited our location or doesn’t have a designated leader with a Level I or equivalent avalanche credential. Experienced skiers may simply make a reservation and ski into the hut. We also offer fully catered trips with one or more guides to carry loads, prepare meals, and offer instruction. As the area's foremost ski and mountaineering guides, we've been leading excursions in these mountains since the seventies.
We invite you to join us for a spectacular and memorable skiing adventure!
