In the outdoor industry there is a certain amount of competition that is inevitable. Multiple guiding services operating in one area, gear shops in the same town, or equipment manufacturing companies with the same products. However "networking" is also an important part of the outdoor world. Companies work together with their specialized services to make a trip happen, or recommend another shop if they do not carry a product.
Sawtooth Mountain Guides works with other guiding services and maintains relationships with them in order to make a special trip work. We realize that other guiding operations have permits in areas that our customers want to explore, or may specialize in an activity that we don't. The outdoor industry is a very personal world and we work together. For example although staff at SMG are well versed in river sports our specialities are skiing, climbing and hiking. To make mountain/river trips more efficient we work with companies that are solely based around river activities.
