Sawtooth rock climbing experiences range from 1/2 day cragging and top-roping, as well as delightful all-day experiences on solid granite within a short hike into the Sawtooth Wilderness. Many of our favorite guided rock climbs are found further into the range, best done as multi-day adventures. In southern Idaho is the world classic destination City of Rocks where there is an abundant number of convenient crags fo all ability levels, novice to expert. With a a professional guide we will match your interests and skills for a perfect and unforgettable climbing experience.

If you would like to explore other climbing options in the Sawtooth that are not listed please call and speak with one of the guides and we will be happy to make custom arrangements.

The Super slabs area located in Redfish Canyon and are accessed via the shuttle boat across redfish lake. These offer easy to moderate routes on granite slabs. Routes range from single to multi pitch and no climbing experience is necessary. The slabs offer fun climbing in a beautiful setting and can be done as a 1/2 or full day experience.

The City of Rocks is a world class climbing area (and a National Reserve) located in Southern Idaho. "The City" is a unique area of large rock boulders, pinnacles and interesting summits nestled in rolling hills with sweeping vistas.

Because The City is a 3 hour drive from Stanley ideally guided trips would last a whole weekend, or longer. Trailheads are located across the State Park and the climbing is only a short hike from the car. The City offers sport and traditional routes for all climbing levels.

Adjacent to the City of Rocks is Castle Rocks State Park. This area offers very similar climbing and we offer trips here as well.

Known by local climbers as “the Boulder”, the Redfish Rock is a great crag which is conveniently located to Redfish Lake and is perfect as a half-day rock climbing experience. Whether you are a beginner, a group of friends or family, or an experienced rock climber, a few hours of climbing is easily scheduled with Sawtooth Mountain Guides. Combine a half-day of rock climbing with still some time the same day to float on the Salmon River, go for a mountain bike ride, or relax on the beach at the lake with your crew of friends or family.
